Guwahati

The picturesque Brahmaputra, river islands,natural lakes,thick green forests,beach islands,beautiful hills make Guwahati one the most beautiful tourist destination of South-Asia. Dispur ,the capital of Assam is in the heart of Guwahati and is the principle centre of socio-culture,political,industrial,trade and commerce of entire region.It has a colourful cultural landscape. With many lively urban activiteis,ancient temples,numerous scenic natural features and recreational activities Guwahati possesses many places of interest.
                                   
Kamakhya temple , Bhubaneshwari temple,Shive temple,Navagraha temple are the sacred piligrimage places in Guwahati. Vashista ashram is an interesting old shrine with plenty of greeness.Hajo ,apiligrimage for both Hindu and Muslim . Madan kamdev is ahistoric place and is 40 kms.from Guwahati.Many lakes in Guwahati offers a relaxing atmosphere and provides boating facilities and recreatinal activities.Dighalipukhuri.Kachapukhuri are famous among them. Kachapukhuri is a natural pond and serves as a home to giant turtles.
                                   
Various musuems provide us with the knowledge and insight into Guwahati and Assam like Assam state musuem, Athropological musuem, Regional science centre and musuem etc. Guwahati war cemetry and Gandhi mandap,a memorial built honor of Mahatma Gandhi and situated on top of Sarania hills are not to be missed. Guwahati is rich in variety of flora and fauna. Deeporbeel bird sanctuary, Assam state zoo, Botanical gardens, Pabitora wildlife sanctuary, Kaziranga national park, Manas sanctuary hold the rare and endangered sps of variety of flora and fauna.
                                   
Shopping in Guwahati is good. Urban attractions include  Pan Bazar, Fancy bazar, Paltaan bazar, G.S.road etc are some shopping places. Sualkuchi is a perfect showcase of the craftmenshipof the artisans. A tour to GUwahati surely occupies a remarkable place in one's life.!!
